Welcome Pastor Rogers!

Therefore be ye also ready…

Bishop Walker took the words of Matthew  23:44 to heart as he threw a curveball at last week’s 7th Episcopal District Annual Conference.  It seems that nearly everyone was surprised when the Bishop reassigned our former pastor, Rev. John Dillard, to the Philadelphia district and appointed a new pastor for St. John.

The officers and members of St. John CME Church would like to extend a hearty welcome to our newly appointed Pastor, Rev. Marcus Rogers.  Rev. Rogers joins us from Chicago, by way of Georgia.  We look forward to hearing more about his vision for our church body soon.

We thank Rev. Dillard and First-Lady Annette Dillard for their years of dedicated service.  They shepherded us through the storm and we wish them Godspeed on their continued path of Kingdom building.

Men’s Day 2017 Schedule

The 2017 Men’s Day Committee is enthusiastic about the activities and events scheduled for this year.  We had a great fellowship during our kickoff event with the Community Cleanup and we look to keep the momentum rolling.

Upcoming Men’s Day activities include the Anacostia River Walk for Health and Fitness, taking in a baseball game at National’s Park on June 10th.  The season concludes with an anointed worship service on June 18th. Fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, nephews, co-workers and friends – please join us by either participating in the Men’s Day Choir, attending our Youth or Adult Sunday School classes or by supporting our celebration financially.

Anacostia River Walk for Health and Fitness

June is National Men’s Health Month, so it is fitting that we are centering an event on awareness, prevention and education. As men, we are no longer content with being victims to circumstance. We are ready to act to improve health and fitness outcomes in our families and in our community.

Come hear more about the plan for the River Walk from two of our young fitness ambassadors this Sunday during the announcements.

Washington Nationals Baseball Game – June 10th

Register for this event and purchase your tickets today or after church on Sunday.

Men’s Day Offering

In addition to participating in the River Walk fundraiser, all members are asked to give a $100 offering. You can start early by making your contribution using our PayPal account

Men’s Sunday School Class

The upcoming Sunday School lesson focuses on God’s Love for Nineveh.  The text is from Jonah 3 and Nahum 1-3.

We hope that you can participate in one or all of these events and there are still a few surprises left in store. Please also check out the refresh of the St. John website.

In His Name,

Bro. Christopher Alexander, Chairman

Bro. Jerry Sallis, Co-chair
